Dear colleagues!

On behalf of the workshop organizing committee, we would like to invite you to participate in the Ist Workshop on Regional Climate Dynamics: “Climate Change in the Carpathian-Balkan Region During the Late Pleistocene and Holocene”, which will be held in Suceava, Bucovina region, ROMANIA on June 9-12, 2011.

The workshop will involve an open discussion and an exchange of ideas on a wide range of topics related to the Regional Climate Dynamics during the Pleistocene and Holocene. Field excursions to the sites of glacial, and Holocene peat bogs on Northern Romanian Carpathians will be provided in the framework of the this first Workshop.

This meeting will be focused exclusively on paleoscience, involving local and international researchers interested mainly in the mountain area (Carpathians and Balkan Mountains - the least studied mountain area in Europe). The main objective is to link local with international research and to start an interdisciplinarity and international cooperation in the Carpathian-Balkan region.

The Workshop will take place in University of Suceava (Romania) in the historical region called Bucovina (Bukowina, “land of beech trees”). Ştefan cel Mare University of Suceava (USV) is one of the most dynamic universities in Eastern Europe, providing higher education of high quality standards at a relatively low cost. Located in the beautiful multicultural land of Bukovina, USV is surrounded by the greatest density of UNESCO monuments in Eastern Europe and numerous picturesque landscapes (http://www.usv.ro/index.php/en).
